Okay, so everybody better bear with me here, I am not that internet savvy. I am now just trying to get into these things. :) I just thought it would be fun for everybody to see what us DeVisser's are up to and how much Alexis has grown and continues to change.
So, here is where we are now. Today is our first real snow fall of the year with any significant accumilations. As we stand now, we are looking at 12+ inches so far today. If you can believe it, my mom who lives 25 miles to the east, is looking at 1 inch or so. Welcome to "Lake Effect" snow. I couldn't wait for there to be enough snow on the ground to take Alexis out sledding and stuff. She had so much trouble in the snow last year because the snow was always too deep for her to walk, much less get up again when she fell. She is a year older now so it should go better now, right? Well, go figure, this year so far isn't any different! I guess when you start out with 8 inches of snow, what can you expect? The poor kid just kept crying for me to help her up and carry her! In her language..."holdy me!" Her attention span for sledding lasted all of maybe 5 minutes, she thought digging her sand toys out of the snow was fun, and we tried to make a snowman. Call me old, but I couldn't get it to work for the life of me. I managed to make a small one! I tried putting on the nose and eyes but Alexis thought it was fun to continue to put rocks on it. I must say, it looked more like an alien by the time we were done! Too bad it didn't last long...when Keith let the dog out that was the first thing it went for! The season has only begun, right?
To continue on...if you can believe it, Alexis is almost 3 years old already. WOW!!! Time flies by so fast! She is quite the chatter box! She loves to sing, talk, watch her "toons", talk, play with her friends (cousins), talk, eat snacks, pretend she is a baby. Did I mention that she likes to talk? HA!! Ha!! One challenge of living so far away from everything and everybody is the long car rides. He mouth never stops! Sound familiar? They say the apple doesn't fall far from the tree. I think I have been told once or twice that I liked to talk alot as a kid! :) We were able to finally conquer potty training which is awesome! She is also trying to become more independant. As she would say "I do all myself!" In a lot of ways, it's nice; in other ways, not so much! Well, I could go on and on about her and the things she does, but I will spare you the agony!
We are on the waiting list again for adoption. We have been waiting now for just over a year. I have to admit waiting this time around is a lot easier than the first time. I am really starting to get baby fever again, and that makes it a little harder. We have had a few close calls of getting a baby, but those fell through. The latest right now that we know of is a birth mother due in late Feb or early March. She has narrowed down to 4 or 5 adoptive families and we are one of them. She would like to take her time deciding who she would like to choose, so the wait and anticipation is agonizing! Oh, did I mention she is having TWINS? WOW! Now that would be an adjustment! It is hard for me to even begin to imagine what things would be like if we had twins! Alexis keeps us so busy, I can't imagine adding two newborns to the equation! However, family has been very supportive of the idea and have faith that things will work out! We just try to remember that God has his plans, and if this is what he has chosen for us, then let it be! God says he won't give us more than what we can handle! I am sure it won't be easy, but it would definately be worth it all in the end! If Jon and Kate + 8 can handle sextuplets, then twins should be a breeze! Yeah, right! :)
As for Keith and I, not much news. Keith is still working nights at Borgess. He has kept himself quite busy on his days off hunting. I am not really doing anything exciting! Just doing a little ebaying, getting some shopping done for Christmas, and taking care of Alexis!
I think I have gone on long enough. Feel free to give me any suggestions or tips for this blog thing! I just managed to get signed into facebook, so I am getting there!
